Welcome to Hunters Moor

The team at Hunters Moor under the leadership of Professor Mike Barnes has been providing some of the best brain injury neurorehabilitation available in the world for the last 20 years.

The team ran the Hunters Moor Neurorehabilitation unit in Newcastle upon Tyne and are now opening brain injury and neurorehabilitation centres across the UK. We specialise in brain injury rehabilitation, stroke rehabilitation and spinal injury rehabilitation.

Our first two units, the Olive Carter Unit and the Janet Barnes Unit, are in Birmingham and cater for 45 people with complex neurorehabilitation needs, including challenging behavioural disturbance, after brain injury. The Olive Carter neurobehavioural unit can take people under Sections of the Mental Health Act.

We offer a high quality neurorehabilitation packages tailored to the individual at a cost economically attractive to PCTs and other funders. A typical length of stay with us would be about 4/6 months as we specialise in rehabilitation of the most complex brain injury problems.
We have a comprehensive multidisciplinary brain injury rehabilitation team with expert physiotherapy, occupational therapy, speech therapy, clinical neuropsychology and neurorehabilitation nursing as well as neuropsychiatric and neurorehabilitation medical doctors. We have close links with colleagues in Birmingham Community Healthcare NHS Trust who provide our therapists.

We have been open in Birmingham for one year now and had great success in getting our clients with severe and complex brain injury, stroke and spinal injury back home after a successful neurorehabilitaion programme.
