Brain injury body takes shape
Plans to create a national network of brain injury lawyers which fully understands the specific needs of individuals and their families, are gathering pace with representatives having been appointed across the country.
The new Brain Injury Group network of specialist brain injury lawyers was launched this Spring and, at the time of writing, had already recruited close to 80% of the 64 carefully selected representatives it needs to have full national coverage.
The network will work alongside a range of professional welfare, financial and family support services to ensure the varied needs of brain injured clients and their families are met.
According to Francis Lacy-Scott - a partner at asb Law and an instrumental figure behind the creation of the new body – the organisation’s inception was driven by the need to prevent clients from missing out on the expert support, treatment or case management they need.
He said: “We set the organisation up because we were seeing lots of brain injury cases being dealt with very badly by non-specialists.
It’s very important that clients are dealt with by people who have the required expertise, but also who understand which services are available to in that client’s local area.
“We will always seek to encourage rehabilitation through interim payments from insurers and can ensure that families that may have struggled in the past, have access to case managers who can coordinate the lives of clients.
“All of our members have been extremely closely vetted and are true specialists and can give clients access to a wide range of expertise and services.”
Among the specialist brain injury specialists already on board are Fletchers, Goodmans Law, Thompsons, Ameer Meredith and Hilary Meredith.
All share a common ethos, have proven expertise and success in the specialist field of brain injury and are committed to the holistic, ethical nature of the organisation.
“There has been the need for some time for specialist brain injury lawyers to bring expertise to a single Forum which can be easily recognised by the general public as their first point of contact,” said Hilary Meredith of Hilary Meredith Solicitors.
“Joining a group such as the Brain Injury Group provides a national presence with a local voice to acquired brain injury.”
