Service For Legal Professionals
Hunters Moor has a long history of medico legal assessment and treatment. In the north east we use only the best therapists to prepare multidisciplinary reports for court, all of which are overseen by Professor Barnes. We also deliver high quality therapy interventions in the homes of clients requiring community based treatments. Our approach is to offer timely response to the demands for assessment and treatment whilst making sure the quality is always maintained to a high standard.
However, we are adamant that treatment has an end point and clients are discharged when the time is right. We are always honest in our assessment of the clients needs and will not be swayed by commercial pressures.
Our new residential units will provide "best in class" treatment to perhaps the most under resourced group in the medico-legal market. The Olive Carter Unit will provide a service close to home for clients from the West Midlands with behavioural disturbance after brain injury. The unit is very accessible from the centre of Birmingham. We are aware some clients and their families have to travel many miles for the right treatment but in the Olive Carter Unit we have a local service for the West Midlands which can cater for most conditions and behavioural problems except the most severely assaultative clients.
We offer multidisciplinary assessments and reports which can be used for the purposes of legal claims. We also provide costs of care reports and single disciplinary assessments from psychiatry, psychology, specialist nursing, physiotherapy, occupational therapy and speech therapy.
The unit is not a long term care facility (i.e. a home for life). We prefer to concentrate on clients with some potential for improvement and have specific skills in managing clients whose behavioural disturbance is affecting their ability to participate in therapy.
